Big Day

Austin Kieff just went back to surgery and he did really well until he was out of the room. Then he started telling them not yet, not yet, not yet...he wanted to wait for Dr. McQueen so he could pray with him. I am not sure his nurse understood. Boy do I love that little boy!!!

2011 Siesta Scripture Memory Team Verse 1

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

1 Samuel 16:7 NASB

Journal entry:

Caroline received Sweetpea Beauty for Christmas which focuses on inner beauty. In addition she received adorable Disney princess dress-up clothes.

My brother-in-law commented to my niece when she was dressing up like Cinderella, that she was more beautiful than any princess. How right he is. I hope our daughters never doubt their beauty and that we as parents do our part on helping them develop their inner beauty.

I already see a strong desire to help others in my niece. Caroline has a helping nature and a loving heart. I hope she continues to develop the characteristics of a virtuous woman.

Santa, Third Day, New Dress, Choir and Advent

The kiddos enjoyed (well enjoyed may be stretching the truth) a visit with Santa in Dothan last Friday. Austin Kieff did a great job waiting in line. Caroline made it to Santa but did not want to sit with him. Austin Kieff told Santa exactly what he wanted. He even made certain he received an extra reindeer hat for Caroline. Caroline cried for Mommy and Daddy.

After the Santa visit we went to Chik-fil-a for a yummy supper and of course a little play time. We LOVE going there :-). After supper was a quick trip to Lifeway so that I could finish up Caroline's Christmas shopping.

Saturday was super busy. The kids and I cooked breakfast while David went to Brundidge to buy pipe for a side job. After breakfast David went to work while the kids and I cleaned a life before going to the office (a visit that took much longer than expected). The kids did great while I worked and were rewarded with a brief visit to the park. Brief because we had a concert to get to!

I should mention that both kiddos sported their orange and blue and cheered on the Tigers in the SEC championship game!!

Third Day was awesome! We all had a great time. I will post some pictures from my camera in a separate post later. Austin Kieff wants to be a drummer now! I am not sure his drum sticks will last much longer, though!!

Sunday Caroline wore her Christmas dress made by her very talented grandmother. We enjoyed a family lunch at Mr. Ho's after church. A few hours of rest and it was time to return. Austin Kieff had choir and we had Bible study except I confused the adult schedule and we toured the Christmas lights on church street instead!! Brrrrrr.

After church we attended an Advent Bible study at Covenant Grace. The study was great and two hours seemed like 20 minutes. Unfortunately we left a little after 9 and missed the end. It was a great study and the kids had a wonderful time playing with Pruitt and Tucker Vaughan.

Busy weekend followed by a busy week. I cannot believe it is December already!

Thinking back on Thanksgiving

I am sitting here thinking about all the things I am thankful for. On the top of my list is my Saviour Jesus Christ, who as my son so sweetly says "died on the cross for all our sins, every last one of them."

I am thankful for a loving husband who takes an active role in raising our children, who works hard to support our family and to be a good example to our son of how a man should put God first, love his wife and his children.

I am thankful for the two miracles God chose me to be the mother of. They are such blessings and bring so much joy to my life. Austin Kieff is so smart and has such a passion for his heavenly Father. He loves reading and telling Bible stories, memorizing his weekly Bible verse and saying such sweet and honest prayers and words of praise. I pray his passion only gets stronger as he gets older. Caroline is an angel. I hope she takes after her brother. She is a little mischievous at times and I am loving every second of being her mom.

I am thankful for my wonderful, supportive, inspiring family.

I am thankful David and I both have good jobs for established companies with bosses who have solid values, strong work ethic and are willing to mentor.

I am thankful for our home, dependable vehicles and food in our pantry.

I am thankful for my church family, old and new and opportunities to attend either as I choose without fear or persecution felt in some areas of the world.

I am thankful to live in the United States of America and for the men and women who have sacrificed and are willing to sacrifice their lives for my freedom.

I am thankful for so many things and have enjoyed taking a few minutes to reflect ...

Roll Tide

We had the best day today. We drove up to Cullman last night. This morning Grandmother cooked homemade biscuits, eggs, bacon, and sausage! We left for Tuscaloosa where we met Lindsey, Ella Grace and Major at the Bear Bryant museum. They had a blast playing outside despite a few pesky ants. We them visited my Great Aunt and Uncle before heading to the game. We all had a WONDERFUL time tonight cheering on the Tide. We hope you enjoy the pictures!!
