My Sweet Girl

I talked about my sweet boy and now it is time to tell a little about Miss Caroline's recent "heart warming" moments and a few other things I want to remember!!

Wednesday at FUMC is Chapel day.  It was Austin Kieff's favorite day of the week and is now Caroline's favorite day of the week.  This past Wednesday, David had already dropped Caroline off in her classroom and was putting her carseat up.  He comes back by the room she is in and thinks that Caroline just wants a hug.  Once he opens the gate, Caroline runs past him up the hall.  David, of course, goes after her.  He could not imagine what she was doing since Austin Kieff is no longer in school there.  Before he graduated, his class was up the hall.  Well, when he asks Caroline what exactly did she think she was doing, she responds, "I am going to Chapel, Daddy."  I LOVE it!!  My baby girl loves learning about Jesus and singing praises just as much as her big brother.  It amazes me how deep her love is for and desire to learn about her Savior.

Also on a sweet note, I love to hear my baby girl announce the days of the week.  She also enjoys spotting letters that she knows.  And I cannot forget to mention that, "A" is for Austin and Anna.  "Anna is Tater Tots sister."  "A" is also for Miss Ashawee (Tate's mom).  "C" is for Caroline and sometimes Carly Jane.  "M" is for Mary Hollis.

Caroline has moved up into a new class a church.  She loves her new teacher but sure misses Papa John and ChaCha and Miss Lithia.  She is also asking when it will be her turn to go to "Big Church!"

She is also adamant about what she likes and does not like.  Few things make her smile like seeing family members if she has been away (school/work/etc)...and...I hate to say it...chocolate.

Miss Caroline is 99% potty trained.  She has had no accidents at school in weeks...not even during nap time.

My little girl is no longer a baby.  Her face is changing...still beautiful, but not that sweet baby face.  Boy do I miss it already.

Pictures of both kiddos will be posted soon!!

My Sweet Son

This post is purely for me...so that I can document how loving and kind my sweet boy is.  Also, so that I can record some of the things he has been up to...

This past Saturday, I had to go in and work for a little while.  Since it was Saturday and a beautiful day outside, I decided to take Austin Kieff and Caroline with me.  We decided we would visit the park in Elba after I finished at my office.  On our way to Elba, we traveled behind a motorhome pulling a Jeep.  The Jeep was what caught Austin Kieff's attention at first.  Then he noticed the motorhome was hauling the Jeep.  We had to talk about this for a few minutes.  Why wasn't somebody driving the Jeep?  Is it safe to pull a Jeep like that?  Is the driver qualified to pull that Jeep?  Do you think it is safe to drive behind this situation?  Sometimes he is just too much!

Well,  after all the talk about the Jeep he wanted to know exactly what was pulling that Jeep...a travel trailer like Grandmother and Granddaddy's?  I explained that it was not quite like that, but similar...it was a motorhome.  Well that was that, he told me and Caroline that that they were traveling somewhere and "sure hopes they have a safe trip."  He even decided to pray about it.  I love the faith this little guy has.  He is quick to pray and quick to ask for prayer.  I hope he stays this way!!

Today started off EXTREMELY rocky!!  While waiting in line at school, my car battery died.  This is definitely not something you want to happen when you are at the very front of a line full of parents waiting for the bell to ring and in a HURRY to get to work.  Austin Kieff's teacher Mrs. Jones was the first to our rescue.  She recruited help and even called her husband to see what he thought might be the matter.  Mr. Herrington stayed with us and helped keep us calm.  I had no clue as to what the problem was at first.  I knew my Dad was busy, wasn't sure where my little brother was and David was on his way to Troy to take Caroline to daycare and go to work (yes, he turned around...but my problem was solved before he made it to the school!).  Thankfully the father of one of Mr. Herrington's students had jumper cables and came up to where we were.  Thankfully Mr. Herrington knew how to open the hood of my car...tell me, why does EVERY other button in my vehicle have a picture to tell you what it is for?  Why is EVERY other button/switch/knob/lever EASY to reach, see...FIND??  By this point my BOSS who just happened to be dropping off his daughter came over to see what was going on.  After much ado, our was problem solved, and we pull forward in the line.

It is at this point my little boy warms my heart.  He simply says, "thank goodness for everyday heroes."  Yes, thank goodness for everyday heroes.  Heroes are not just super heroes from cartoons, police officers or EMTs (like Uncle John Wayne) who save lives.  Some times heroes are just everyday people doing nice things for others...like the good Samaritan.  I LOVE it when he randomly recalls something we have discussed and applies it to a situation...

So, thank you...Mrs, Jones, Mr. Herrington, Mrs, Griswald, Mr. Herrington's student and father and Mr. Brian and thank you Austin Kieff for being YOU!!!

Going and Coming

Caroline is being quite the character this morning.   She has had powdered doughnuts.  We have painted her toenails and fingernails.  Now she is pretending to leave...she has four different bags on her shoulder! Her phrases are too funny!

Bye, I have to go to the store.

I'll have a safe trip.

I love you, be a sweet girl.

I'll be back soon.

On returning:

I'm home!

Did you miss me?

Here's your prize!

Oh, I missed you so much!

She is just too funny!! Now she is taking Maggie, her sweet girl, to go potty...I hope she remembers to pretend!! I had better go check ...

Sweet Caroline

My daughter is something else!  She is adorably cute and she amazes me at times with how smart she is.  Yes, I am biased!

A few days ago she told me, " I have to go to work.  Be sweet and don't cry.  I will be home soon."  Then she packed her purse, grabbed a notebook and went to her office.

She then told me she was "super busy" and had "lots of work to finish."  She even took Maggie and Mary Margaret with her to work.   She was quick to tell them to talk softly and...my favorite...too "be patient."

Tonight she was putting PJ's on her baby and pretending to be a mommy.

Oh how my God has blessed me...

The Wave Goodbye

Every morning I take Austin Kieff to school.   I love our morning wait for the bell to ring.  We talk.  We pray.  We sing his favorite songs...minus aerosmith (I took the CD to my office, much to his disappointment).  Some days we even get a Bible story in.  I love every minute especially his wave.

We pull up to the very front of the drop-off area so he can walk straight to the gate leading to his building.   Some mornings he gets out on his own. Some mornings he has a little help from a teacher.  Every morning there is this brief pause...a slightly hesitant glance back.  But as soon as our eyes connect there that heart melting smile appears along with the sweetest little wave. He has this I can do anything expression on his face.  He is ready to conquer the world...with only a little reservation at times.

My little boy is growing up...I pray he will love the Lord with all his heart.  I pray he will do well in school...he is so smart, but so hurried on some days it is hard to focus him.  I pray he loves school in the years to come as much as he has loved these first two weeks.

I am proud to have a little Rebel and he is so VERY proud to be a REBEL!!

Surgery!

Caroline had her second set up tubes placed and another small problem fixed a few weeks ago.  With David's new job, it was almost impossible to get her to Dr. McQueen's office.  So, we let our pediatrician recommend a doctor in Troy.  We were very pleased with Dr. McRae, although we sure missed Mrs. Paula and Dr. McQueen of course!!  She did great and our experience at Troy Regional was MUCH better than expected.  We saw a really sweet nurse that I went to school with.  Our post-op nurse was wonderful.  They even brought Caroline and me breakfast!

A VERY early wake-up

She was happy

Strapped in and ready to  go

She had her very own room and was given a teddy
bear by a very sweet nurse!

All dressed in her gown

She thought her babies needed to be in the bed

Her stroll to surgery

Austin Kieff and Daddy visited her just before she went back!
